On Wednesday 20th December 'Bethlehem In Cake' went to auction at The Bulls Head. After a morning of filming with ITV news, the cakes sold for just under £2000. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible, the funds will go towards our playground refurbishment project.

On Monday 11th December we held our Christingle service in church. Class three made the Christingles for each child which were given out and lit. It created a wonderful atmosphere as the children sang, as you can see from the pictures below.

On Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December the Infant children put on a spectacular Christmas Nativity with the Junior children as the fantastic choir. It went extremely well and the children should be very proud of themselves. A big thank you to Mr Dean and Mr McVeigh for the production of their very first nativity at our school.

On Friday 1st December the children spent the day making Christmas decorations for their classroom using an array of materials. As you can see, they had lots of fun!

A big thank you to everyone who sent in money and/or cake donations for the fundraising activities last week, the children had great fun. Also a big thank you to Mr McVeigh and the School Council who have organised all the events. We raised a fantastic grand total of £165.52!

Last week our Year 6 School Parliament Representatives, Freya and George, took part in the annual Parliament Week Event for Primary Schools hosted by The Bishop of Derby at Derby Cathedral. The theme for this year was the 'Environment and Climate Change'. Each school was asked to produce a large sculpture out of waste materials to form an exhibition about the impact of climate change. This week all the children have been painting pebbles, to take part in the Derbyshire Rocks challenge. Sarah Hill came into school to talk to the children about the project and Long Rake Spa have very kindly donated all the pebbles for the children to paint and prizes for each class.

Yesterday all the Y5 and Y6 children took part in the Tag Rugby tournament at Great Longstone. Every match was very close and the whole tournament was a great success. There were some great individual displays from our children and everyone behaved brilliantly.
