Summer Term 1
This term in Class 3, our topic is the Blue Abyss, looking at the oceans and our relationships with them. In English, Years 4 and 5 started reading The Story of the Blue Planet: a modern-classic from Icelandic author Andri Snær Magnason. The book opens with a spaceship crash landing on a peaceful, distant world inhabited only by children so we've been writing character descriptions of the alien/monster that might soon emerge from the spaceship. Year 6 have also been getting stuck into their own writing too, producing elegantly planned narratives themed around a shipwreck.
Our science this half-term is all about electricity. We dived straight in on Monday with the crocodile clips, tiny bulbs and battery packs, whilst also looking at how electricity functions on an atomic level with protons, neutrons and free electrons.
