Class 3

Class 3: Carmen!

This autumn term, Class 3 spent 10 weeks learning about, rehearsing and finally performing their own version of Bizet's Carmen. Working with guidance from the Royal Opera Society and the regular support of Derbyshire Music Hub, the children learnt about the story of Carmen and took part in various immersion activities over the 10 weeks, getting to know each of the main characters, creating their own lyrics to go alongside one of the songs and learning specially created versions of the opera's most popular songs, including the Habanera, the Children's Chorus and the Toreador's song. The children then decided how they would stage their final showcase and performed it for parents, carers and the rest of the school family at the village hall. Below you can see some snapshots of the showcase and to the right you watch the children's performance of the toreador's song.
