World Book Day 2020
As you can see, we all had a great time on Thursday 5th March for World Book Day! This year’s theme was ‘Share a Story’ and we were very grateful to the grown-ups who came into school to share their favourite stories with us. We also shared in our assembly some of the great photos we received of children reading in weird and wonderful places. Building on the ‘Share a Story’ theme we also launched our new school reading initiative ’50 Books to read before you leave…’. Using the World Book Day website as a source of inspiration we have selected 50 books we would like children to try and read before the finish their time with us at Youlgrave. The children will be given a record card so that they can keep track of which books they have read and we have a good selection of the books available in school for them to borrow. I wonder who will be first to complete the challenge – but this one is definitely a marathon and not a sprint!
