Reception

Please try and listen to your child read for 10 minutes each evening or as much as you can. It really does help them to improve.

Try asking your child to tell you about the story they have read, including:

  • Who the characters are?
  • What sort of personality does each character have?
  • What was the story about?
  • Why did certain characters act or behave in a particular way?

It is important to reflect on what has been read as well as just reading the words.

If your child finds certain words difficult, keep practicing them.

Try and read the book more than once.

Please record in your child's reading record book when they have read to you.
